Drum dryer for clay.

Our company has the ability to design and manufacture, at the request of the customer, a drying drum for drying clay , with a capacity ranging from 0.5 tons per hour to 10 tons per hour . If a higher productivity is required, our company is ready to offer modular clay drying complexes with a capacity from 10 tons per hour to 50 tons per hour.

TYPES OF CLAY:

Our tumble dryers are designed to dry the following types of clay :

  • kaolin (kaolin clay);

  • bentonite (bentonite clay);

  • montmorillonite clay;

  • gesso clay;

  • fireclay clay;

  • and also for drying zeolites.

FEATURES OF OUR CLAY DRYERS:

Our drying drums for drying clay can be aggregated with heat generators operating both on gaseous fuel ( natural gas, propane-butane mixture ), liquid ( diesel fuel, fuel oil, various synthetic boiler / furnace fuels, water-coal fuel ), solid ( wood-burning furnaces, coal furnaces , installation of pulverized coal injection ).

 

Heat generators operating on natural gas are the easiest to maintain and technologically advanced. They are fully automated and do not require constant monitoring.

 

The only drawback is the cost of natural gas in Ukraine. The cost of drying is about 1.5-2 times higher than when working on solid fuels. The most significant savings can be achieved using solid fuel heat generators. Among them, the best price / cost ratio * technological effectiveness is possessed by a pulverized coal-fired heat generator . And the most economical one is a heat generator operating on briquettes of sunflower husk or brown coal of 25-100 mm, for a solid fuel heat generator, compared to a heat generator operating on natural gas, the cost of the fuel component is 3.5-4 times lower.  

IMPORTANT:

But,  all solid fuel heat generators have significant drawbacks .

  1. So, for example, all heat generators require a stoker for timely fuel supply and ash removal. When using a wood-fired heat generator, it is necessary to constantly monitor the moisture content of the incoming firewood, otherwise the required  thermal power for the drying process will be impossible. It also requires a permanent large warehouse for firewood and a firewood preparation area (unloading, sawing, sorting). For example, for a heat generator with a capacity of 1-1.5 MW, the required amount of firewood is 25-37 cubic meters. per day, which is equivalent to 1 truck. Thus, it turns out that, depending on the wishes and needs of the customer, the type of heat generator used is not always obvious. Sometimes it is more expedient to install a heat generator that runs on diesel fuel, or on natural gas and not have unnecessary trouble.  

  2. Also, in addition to the heat generator for the operation of the drying drum , a smoke exhauster is needed , which ensures the suction of the necessary air for combustion, its passage through the drying drum, cyclone and the evacuation of moisture evaporated from the clay. For each capacity in tons per hour, taking into account humidity at the inlet and outlet of the drying drum, rheological properties of clay, type of clay, porosity, etc., a smoke exhauster with the required parameters is specially calculated, designed and manufactured.

  3. The third necessary element for the correct conduct of the clay drying process is the presence of a dust-precipitating cyclone . Dry clay is a very dusty material and therefore requires a dust deposition system. The cyclone parameters depend on the performance of the drying drum, the amount of moisture removed from the material, the type of heat generator. Therefore, in each individual case, depending on the configuration, we select the cyclones individually.
