Our company has the ability to design and manufacture any drying unit with  productivity in the range from 100 kg per hour to 5 tons per hour. The material of the body and parts of the drying unit is stainless steel or ordinary, low-carbon steel, at the request of the customer. Depending on the type of plastics, their properties and moisture content, various drying units are used for drying. The most common drying units in the chemical industry and in particular in the plastics industry is the fluidized bed dryer. More details about it can be found in the section - fluidized bed dryer. A drum type dryer for plastics is also widely used. Also, in some cases, our company can offer aerodynamic dryers for plastics and belt dryers.

A drying unit for drying plastics must be aggregated with a heat generator operating either on gaseous fuel (natural gas, propane-butane mixture), or on liquid (diesel fuel, fuel oil, various synthetic boiler / furnace fuels, water-coal fuel), or on solid (wood-fired furnaces, coal furnaces, multi-fuel (operating both on pellets, briquettes from wood raw materials, agricultural raw materials, and on wood chips, firewood, coal - brown, anthracite, coal grades D and G), pulverized coal injection installations).

It is also possible to make a heat generator using electricity . However, electricity is the most expensive form of energy. It is justified when either small production volumes of 50-100 kg per hour or a very high price of plastic.

Heat generators operating on natural gas are the easiest to maintain and technologically advanced. They can be fully automated and do not require constant monitoring.


The only drawback is the cost of natural gas in Ukraine. The cost of drying is 1.5-3 times higher than when working on solid fuels or liquid (synthetic furnace fuels, pyrolysis products of tires, oils).


The most significant savings can be achieved using solid fuel heat generators.


Among them, the best price / cost ratio * technological effectiveness is possessed by a pulverized coal-fired heat generator. And the most economical will be a heat generator operating on briquettes from sunflower husk and also on brown coal (pieces of 20-100mm). However, they have significant disadvantages.



  1. So, for example, all solid fuel heat generators require a stoker for timely fuel supply and ash removal. When using a wood-fired heat generator, it is necessary to constantly monitor the moisture content of the incoming firewood, otherwise the required  thermal power for the drying process will be impossible. You also need a permanent warehouse for firewood with a week's supply, if you do not have a nearby permanent source of firewood and a firewood preparation area (unloading, sawing, sorting). For example, for a heat generator with a capacity of 1-1.5 MW, the required amount of firewood is 25-37 cubic meters. per day, which is equivalent to 1 truck. Thus, it turns out that, depending on the wishes and needs of the customer, the type of heat generator used is not always obvious. Sometimes it is more expedient to install a heat generator that runs on diesel fuel, or on natural gas and not have unnecessary trouble.  

  2. Also, in addition to the heat generator, for the operation of the drying unit, a smoke exhauster is needed , which ensures the suction of the necessary air for combustion or heating, its passage through the drying unit, a cyclone and the evacuation of moisture evaporated from the plastic. For each capacity in tons per hour, taking into account the humidity at the inlet and outlet of the drying unit, properties of plastics, porosity, etc., a smoke exhauster is specially calculated, designed and manufactured with the required parameters.

  3. The third necessary element for the correct conduct of the drying process of plastics is the presence of a dust-precipitating cyclone . Plastics are expensive and at the same time often hazardous and therefore require collection systems. The cyclone parameters depend on the performance of the drying unit, the amount of moisture removed from the material, the type of heat generator. Therefore, in each individual case, depending on the configuration, we select the cyclones individually.
